Remote (South Africa) | US Hours | R50 000 - R60 000 per month.

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to join the remote accounting team, working US hours. Reporting to the Controller, you'll play a vital role in daily accounting functions, month‑end close, financial reporting, and process improvements. This position requires someone who thrives in a deadline‑driven environment and can provide accurate, timely data to support decision‑making at all levels.

• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience (GL, AP, AR, or similar)
• Record journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and year‑end financial statements
• Support AP and AR processes, including invoice handling and reconciliations
• Assist with month‑end close: accruals, fixed assets, depreciation, and audit prep
• Prepare financial reports, variance analysis, and support budgeting processes
• Track financial KPIs and provide ad‑hoc reporting to management
• Monitor compliance with GAAP and internal control policies
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements

• 2+ years in a staff accounting or similar role
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
• High attention to detail and analytical mindset
• Experience with Spectrum or similar construction accounting tools (advantageous)
• Background in construction or utility services is a plus
• Excellent time management and communication skills
• Comfortable working US hours (split shifts: 8am-12pm & 5pm-9pm SAST)
• Neutral or no accent, with strong English proficiency
• Previous experience with US‑based clients preferred
