Senior Accountant (Sage Intacct / US GAAP) Salary: Competitive and based on experience

Location: Johannesburg / Durban / Cape Town

Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant with expertise in Sage Intacct and US GAAP. This remote role offers the flexibility to work from Johannesburg, Durban, or Cape Town.

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team, providing accounting services that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and deliver accurate financial data. This is an exciting contract opportunity with a 4-6 hour overlap with US EST.

What you'll do:

1. Apply appropriate accounting knowledge on workpapers and assignments to ensure accurate and reliable data.
2. Utilize accounting software for routine data entry, tasks, and documentation.
3. Collaborate with team leaders to distribute work among the team and firm as needed.
4. Train and delegate projects to staff while ensuring standards are met.
5. Execute day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable/receivables, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
6. Ensure compliance with regulatory accounting and research topics to increase fundamental knowledge.
7. Work with cross-functional teams to execute goals.
8. Review journal entries, reconciliations, and other accounting transactions prepared by the team.
9. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.

What you bring:

1. 4+ years of experience in accounting and/or bookkeeping.
2. Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
3. Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles, including GAAP.
4. Proficiency with Sage Intacct and Microsoft Office Suite.
5. Certified Public Accountant qualification is preferred.
6. Prior experience with QuickBooks, Sage MAS 90, MIP, CCH Axcess, BILL, or ADP is advantageous.
7. Experience in public accounting or another professional services organization is beneficial.
8. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
9. Good time management and organization skills.
10. High level of integrity and dependability.
