Vacancy: Wellness Officer
Reporting to: Corporate Wellness Manager
Location: KwaZulu Natal & Eastern Cape
Main Job Purpose
The Wellness Officer Social Worker will be responsible for supporting the mental and emotional well-being of individuals within the organization. They will provide counselling, emotional support, and resources to help employees manage stress, improve coping skills, and enhance overall wellness.
Minimum Requirements
- A degree in social work or a related field.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a social worker in the state of employment.
- Previous experience providing counselling and support services in a mental health or wellness setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Familiarity with mental health resources and support services in the community.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with employees.
- Commitment to promoting mental health and wellness in the workplace.
Job Objectives
- Facilitate provision of critical financial and non-financial support to employees facing injuries, emergencies, and hardships.
- Educate or facilitate quarterly workshops to address health challenges, reduce stress, address anxiety, depression, and build resilience and coping mechanisms.
- Promote wellness awareness through internal communication channels.
- Provide or facilitate counselling services for employees and their immediate families.
- Promote EAP awareness through internal communication channels.
- Conduct Mental Health First Aid Training and facilitate training of employees as Mental Health First Aid Trainers.
- Provide emotional and practical support to employees affected by the death of a co-worker.
- Collaborate with HR and COIDA department managers to identify affected employees and create communication mechanisms.
- Schedule bereavement support sessions within one week of incident.
- Report back to the National Wellness Manager within 24 hours.
- Create peer support groups within teams.
- Facilitate quarterly health screening and ongoing wellness workshops.
- Promote physical wellness and financial literacy through internal communication and workshops.
- Coordinate pre-retirement planning sessions with financial advisors.
- Maintain records of all sessions and report monthly.
- Facilitate team-building and skills development activities.
- Organize Wellness Days to educate employees about wellness.
