Job summary
A leading manufacturing group in Durban is looking for a Dispatch Controller to oversee operations. The role includes planning deliveries, managing drivers, and ensuring compliance with South African regulations. Candidates should have over 5 years of experience and Syspro knowledge. Starting remuneration is R18 000 – R20 000 plus bonuses and provident fund.

- Supervise drivers and provide necessary training.

Manufacturing group are seeking a Dispatch Controller for their operation in Mobeni. Applicants will need 5+ years experience in a similar role.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate the dispatch of goods to customers, depots, or sites.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of orders according to priority and route efficiency.
- Liaise with warehouse and logistics teams to confirm availability of goods for dispatch.
- Allocate deliveries to drivers or transport partners based on route optimization and capacity.
- Monitor fleet performance, vehicle utilization, and driver adherence to schedules.
- Assist in planning efficient routes to minimize transport costs and delays.
- Act as the main point of contact between the dispatch team, drivers, and customers.
- Communicate any delays, changes, or issues with deliveries promptly.
- Handle customer queries or complaints regarding deliveries in a professional manner.
- Maintain accurate dispatch records, delivery notes, and proof of delivery (POD).
- Ensure compliance with South African transport regulations (e.g., Road Traffic Act, Occupational Health and Safety).
- Keep records of fuel usage, vehicle inspections, and maintenance schedules.
- Monitor stock levels to ensure that dispatched goods match inventory availability.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to manage order picking and loading schedules.
- Identify and report stock discrepancies or damages during dispatch.
- Supervise drivers and dispatch clerks to ensure efficient and safe operations.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide guidance or training as needed.
- Ensure drivers comply with company policies and road safety standards.
- Prepare reports on delivery performance, late deliveries, and transport costs.
- Analyze operational issues to recommend process improvements.
- Track KPIs such as on-time delivery, fuel efficiency, and vehicle downtime.
- Grade 12
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a dispatch controller
- Fleet control experience is a must for this position
- Able to manage drivers, timesheets, diesel usage control systems
- Syspro experience is compulsory
R18 000 – R20 000 + annual bonus (at the discretion of management) + provident fund
