Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Instrumental and Choral Programs.
  • Provide an exemplary Performing Arts Program for students.
  • Liaise closely with the Head of Performing Arts (Whole School) to ensure continuity of programs.
  • Plan, program and deliver high-quality teaching and learning activities that are designed to meet the diverse needs within any class.
  • Be responsible for annual/ incidental musical events, performances and productions.
  • Promote and represent AISM in the wider community through providing opportunities for musical performances in public forums, including competitions.
  • Contribute to the provision of a rich and diverse Co-curricular experience for students in the School.
  • Develop productive and respectful relationships with parents and colleagues to ensure effective learning for students at the School.
  • Maintain a safe and secure educational environment by ensuring appropriate standards of behavior.
  • Assess and report in line with the School's expectations.
  • Undertake tasks associated with the ongoing development of the School’s curriculum.
  • Participate in professional growth.
  • Ability to inspire students and colleagues and build strong relationships across departments.
  • Other duties as directed by the Principal or Head of School.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field with a specialization in Music and Drama.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience.
  • Experience leading instrumental and choral programs; ability to run band programs (Highly desirable).
  • Knowledge and experience applying the principles of Visible Learning would be highly regarded.
  • Ability to run Instrumental programs and to lead string ensembles (Highly desirable).
  • Experienced in and able to teach Drama classes for students aged 6 - 18.
  • Proven skills in designing, implementing and evaluating academic Music programs and musical events.
  • Expertise and experience leading co-curricular activities.
  • Spoken and written English is used for all school communications and as such a high standard of English communication skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening is required to be successful in this position.
  • Strong ICT skills to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Current Teacher Registration and relevant police checks.
