WEDM Precision Machinist (Programming Competent)

We are an established precision toolroom supporting the semiconductor industry and are looking for an experienced WEDM Precision Machinist with strong programming capability. The successful candidate will operate and program Japanese‑make WEDM machines such as Mitsubishi or Sodick, producing high‑precision mold and die tooling components.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate WEDM machines independently
• Perform WEDM programming for complex precision mold and die parts
• Machine semiconductor mold & die tooling components, including inserts, cores, cavities, and precision profiles
• Work with tight tolerances and high surface‑finish requirements
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tolerances accurately
• Optimise cutting parameters for precision, quality, and productivity
• Perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting
• Work closely with Toolroom, Engineering, and Quality teams to meet production schedules
• Maintain proper documentation and follow toolroom quality standards

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of WEDM machining experience
• Proven experience in semiconductor mold and die tooling parts
• Strong programming competency on Mitsubishi and/or Sodick WEDM machines
• Experience cutting hardened tool steel and carbide
• Ability to work with tight tolerances (micron‑level precision)
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Responsible, disciplined, and quality‑focused

Preferred Skills

• Experience in high‑mix, low‑volume precision toolroom environments
• Familiarity with ISO or quality‑controlled manufacturing systems
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
