Job description

The Warehouse Buyer will be responsible for assisting in monitoring and analysing cost-related data to ensure effective cost management within the retail grocery operations. You will support the implementation of cost control measures, provide accurate reporting, and work closely with procurement, operations, and finance teams to optimise profitability.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Identify, select, and build relationships with vendors and suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure the best value for the company.
  • Process requisitions, create purchase orders, and manage the authorization process for acquiring goods.
  • Collaborate with inventory teams to ensure adequate stock levels, maintain balance based on demand, and reconcile inventory counts.
  • Conduct market research and analyse trends to make informed buying decisions and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Evaluate and ensure the quality and accuracy of purchased goods, coordinating product testing when necessary.
  • Track incoming orders, ensure timely delivery, and manage the transportation of goods.
  • Liaise with management, production, and other teams to understand purchasing specifications and resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, and expenses.
  • Address discrepancies in orders, invoices, or deliveries and work to resolve issues with suppliers and internal teams.
Job Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Must be a Malaysian citizen.
  • 1-3 years of working experience in retail, grocery, or warehouse operations; experience in retail, FMCG, or grocery operations is preferred.
  • Strong network in local poultry farms, seafood landing ports, and vegetable cooperatives.
  • Proven ability to secure supply during shortages or festive seasons.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with inventory/costing modules is a plus.
  • Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
