Job summary

A manufacturing firm based in Seberang Perai, Malaysia, is seeking a qualified individual to conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analysis and prepare mould designs for plastic injection. The ideal candidate should have a Diploma in Tool & Die or Mechanical Engineering, with hands-on experience in tool fabrication. Also preferred are knowledge of quality standards and experience with Moldflow and CAD/CAM software, as the role involves collaboration with production and quality teams to ensure optimum mould performance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma in Tool & Die, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in tool fabrication and maintenance required.
  • Practical knowledge of injection mould tooling advantageous.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analysis for plastic injection moulds.
  • Prepare, review, and validate mould designs to meet product, quality, and production requirements.
  • Perform Moldflow analysis to evaluate mould filling, cooling efficiency, and potential defects.
  • Carry out CAD/CAM programming to support tooling fabrication, modification, and improvement.
  • Support tooling fabrication, trial runs, continuous improvement, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Coordinate and follow up on tool maintenance and repair to ensure optimum mould performance and durability.
  • Work closely with production, quality, and toolmakers to resolve tooling-related issues and improve manufacturability.
  • Ensure tooling activities comply with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 13485 (Medical Devices) quality management system requirements where applicable.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum Diploma in Tool & Die, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in tool fabrication and tool maintenance is required.
  • Prior experience in the Tool & Die industry is highly preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of injection mould tooling and manufacturing operations is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 13485 (Medical Devices) standards is preferred.
  • Experience with Moldflow and CAD/CAM software will be an added advantage.
  • Able to work independently and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
