This Position reports to: Project Operations Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to adapt and implement sales support strategy for a designated area in accordance with the global support strategy. Each day, you will ensure technical and commercial support for internal and external customers. You will also showcase your expertise by overseeing estimations, bids, and proposals ensuring alignment with ABB standards and targets and leading, developing, and coaching the Sales Support team.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid #LI-Hybrid, Onsite #LI-Onsite

This role is contributing to the Electrification Distribution Solutions (ELDS) in Malaysia. Main stakeholders are ABB valued Customers & Partners.

  • Formulating competitive bids, estimates, and quotations by considering the best available product mix and appropriate technical and commercial aspects for each situation.
  • Ensuring tenders are well-documented in a timely manner and with an appropriate level of detail, including full and accurate costs.
  • Leading and managing the planning and preparation of technical, financial, and, if required, project management aspects of the bid, estimate, and quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions.
  • Ensuring the status of the bids, estimates, and quotations are reported regularly using defined tools and reasons for both lost and won tenders are collected and analyzed.
  • Identifying potential risks in the bids, quotations, estimates, and related contract agreements across customers/channels and takes appropriate action.
  • Providing information and/or participating in the risk review process in accordance with ABB policy.
  • Leading, developing, and coaching the Tendering Specialist team.
  • Ensuring technical and commercial support and collaborates with internal teams and external customers.
Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Tendering, Bids & Proposals, or Estimation. At least 3 years of experience in managing or leading a Tendering team, or in a similar leadership role.
  • Familiarity with MV Switchgears, Compact Substations, E-Houses, or equivalent systems. Strong understanding of electrical Single Line Diagrams, Technical Specifications, and Commercial Clauses.
  • Proficient in Risk Management, Financial Acumen, Contracts & Legal aspects, and handling Customer & Vendor Technical Clarifications.
  • Willing to work extended hours during peak periods to meet tender deadlines.
  • Fluent in both English and Bahasa Malaysia, in written and spoken communication.
