Technical Support Engineer's core responsibility is to render technical support for sales activities. Through execution, he will learn and refine tactical skills, gaining a solid understanding of customers'/reps' businesses and goals. Technical Support Engineer is accountable for all technical services in his assigned territory and is subject to his immediate superior's redefinition of responsibility boundaries.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Highly self-motivated, independent, and able to function well in a team.
- Provides technical support and services, such as offering product and process recommendations, troubleshooting, and conducting on-site product evaluations and qualifications.
- Educates, trains and acts as a technical resource for customers, distributors and internally.
- Carry the role of a technical spokesperson for the company.
- Provide customer feedback on technical issues/requirements.
- Identify, plan, recommend, and complete technical programs that lead to innovative applications and extensions of existing and new technologies essential to Indium Corporation’s business.
- Participates in technical strategic planning.
- May assist in planning regional Business & Marketing goals.
- Establish a network and a good reputation, promoting Indium’s value as the industry's technical leader.
- Documents experimental data/observations, prepare reports, write technical papers/blogs, and makes oral presentations.
- Commitment to continually excel in technical competency through active participation in external/internal training, conferences, joint projects and gathering market information on product technical aspects and trend development.
Requirements
- Bachelor/master’s degree in electrical or Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Chemistry, or equivalent.
- Having 2-5 years of relevant experience in semiconductor packaging assembly or SMT (Surface Mount Technology) is preferred.
- Proficiency in using software tools for data analysis, such as Minitab and spreadsheet applications.
- Strong written/oral communication skills in English are necessary.
- Basic computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
