A leading interior fit-out company in Malaysia is seeking a Technical Manager to oversee a high-performing technical team responsible for delivering accurately coordinated technical drawings. The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, at least 8 years of industry experience, and strong leadership skills. The role emphasizes developing team capacity, managing technical standards, and driving continuous improvement across projects, with proficiency in software like SolidWorks as an advantage.
The Technical Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for managing, guiding, and developing the technical team. This position ensures the consistent delivery of high‑quality, accurate, and well‑coordinated technical drawings while driving technical excellence, team performance, and continuous improvement in interior fit‑out and design‑and‑projects.
Lead, manage, and inspire the technical team to achieve project and company objectives.
Set clear goals, roles, and performance expectations aligned with organizational priorities.
Plan and manage team capacity, manpower allocation, and workload distribution.
Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, and technical training.
Build a disciplined, accountable, and high‑performing technical team culture focused on quality and timely delivery.
Identify skill gaps and implement structured development and succession plans.
Oversee and control all technical engineering deliverables.
Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality.
Review, coordinate, and approve all drawings.
Ensure technical accuracy, buildability, and proper coordination across interior drawings.
Establish, enforce, and continuously improve company‑wide drafting and technical standards.
Ensure consistency in detailing, layers, symbols, and documentation across all projects.
Implement robust drawing review, checking, and approval procedures.
Ensure compliance with design intent, specifications, statutory requirements, and best practices.
Act as the primary technical interface between designers, project managers, production, and other stakeholders.
Proactively resolve technical conflicts, drawing discrepancies, and coordination issues.
Lead technical coordination meetings and support project execution teams.
Align drafting and technical outputs across regional offices to ensure seamless project delivery.
Drive continuous improvement in technical workflows, systems, and productivity.
Monitor and manage KPIs related to drawing turnaround time, accuracy, and revision control.
Support standardization and optimization of technical processes across projects.
Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
Minimum 8–12 years of experience in interior fit‑out, construction, or design‑and‑build projects.
At least 5 years in a leadership role managing drafting and/or technical engineering teams.
Proven experience managing large teams in a fast‑paced project environment.
Working experience in the furniture industry will be an added advantage.
Expert proficiency in SolidWorks (advantage).
Strong understanding of interior fit‑out detailing, materials, and construction methodologies.
Excellent drawing review, coordination, and technical problem‑solving skills.
Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate and influence teams.
