Job summary

A major retail corporation in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Sustainability Manager to drive and coordinate sustainability initiatives across the organization. This role involves integrating ESG strategies into operations, ensuring compliance with sustainability standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Candidates should have a strong background in sustainability management, relevant experience in the retail or FMCG sector, and excellent communication skills in both Bahasa Malaysia and English. This position is based at AEON Headquarters Office in Kuala Lumpur.

Qualifications

Job description

Job Responsibilities

To assist in implementing the company’s sustainability roadmap aligned with ESG goals and regulatory requirements.

Work collaboratively with various departments to integrate sustainability into daily operations.

Lead and manage initiatives focused on waste reduction, energy efficiency, and community engagement.

Coordinate sustainability data collection for internal use and external reporting, including ESG disclosures.

Ensure compliance with local and international sustainability standards and regulations.

Lead the calculation and reporting of Scope 1, 2, and relevant Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in line with established standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064).

Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, NGOs, and industry partners.

Support training and awareness programs to build a sustainability-focused culture across the organization.

Track key performance indicators (KPIs), monitor progress toward targets, and analyse data to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.

Take on additional responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to team success.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or related field.

5–6 years of relevant experience in sustainability or ESG program management.

Experience working in cross-functional teams, preferably in a retail or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.

Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

Strong understanding of GHG Protocol and carbon accounting frameworks.

ESG reporting experience (e.g., GRI, CDP, SASB).

Strong data analysis and presentation skills.

Passion for sustainability and ability to influence change within the organization.

The candidate must be able to work in AEON Headquarters Office based in AEON Taman Maluri, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

To responsible for driving and coordinating the implementation of sustainability initiatives across the organization. This role supports the development and execution of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies, ensures compliance with sustainability standards, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to embed sustainable practices into core operations. Plays a key role in monitoring performance, managing sustainability programs, and reporting progress to internal stakeholders.
