Supply Chain Manager – Global Automation Industry

A newly established smart manufacturing start-up in Kulim, backed by an international group with strong engineering and automation expertise. The company serves global customers across automotive, medical, and industrial sectors and is setting up its Malaysia operations from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead strategic sourcing across APAC for critical components (machined parts, sheet metal, electrical/electronic, pneumatic systems).
• Develop and qualify suppliers in China, Vietnam, Thailand, and the wider APAC region to strengthen supply resilience.
• Drive cost optimization through analysis, value engineering, and collaboration with R&D and suppliers.
• Manage inbound logistics, delivery schedules, and coordination with freight forwarders and warehouse teams.
• Monitor supplier performance (Quality, Delivery, Cost, Service) and ensure compliance with EHS and ethical sourcing.
• Oversee procurement processes in SAP MM, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks with contingency planning and alternative logistics solutions.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related discipline.
• 8+ years of procurement/supply chain experience in multinational manufacturing (automation, automotive, industrial, capital equipment).
• Strong expertise in strategic sourcing, cost breakdown analysis, and inbound logistics.
• Proficiency in SAP MM and advanced Excel.
• Fluent in English with strong negotiation skills; Mandarin is a plus.
• Self-driven, analytical, and comfortable in a fast-paced, project-based global environment.
