Job description

The Supplier Engineering Director will lead the supplier management and engineering team to ensure effective supply chain operations and quality standards. This role requires expertise in the industrial and manufacturing industry to drive continuous improvement and supplier performance.

Responsibilities
  • Define and own supplier evaluation criteria and scoring systems to assess quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Lead new supplier selection through a disciplined and robust qualification process.
  • Develop and lead a high‑performing engineering team to partner with supply chain and enhance supplier capability and quality.
  • Align supplier capabilities with product requirements and drive strategic improvement plans for key suppliers.
  • Execute Supplier Development Engineering Playbook and implement improvement projects using Lean/TPS and Six Sigma tools.
  • Track and analyze supplier performance indicators using scorecards and rankings to ensure consistent compliance with business needs.
  • Eliminate risks impacting supplier performance and upscale issues as necessary.
  • Provide technical expertise for manufacturing complex parts and sub‑assemblies.
  • Review supplier manufacturing processes for compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Lead PFMEA activities, work instruction improvements, and control plan effectiveness with suppliers.
  • Direct activities of Supplier Development Engineers in Asia and collaborate with global Quality teams.
  • Drive cross‑functional engagement to remove roadblocks and improve supplier performance.
Profile
  • Experience in driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 8–10 years of relevant experience in industrial equipment, automotive, semiconductor, or medical manufacturing environments.
  • Minimum 5 years of managerial experience, including leading teams across multiple sites in a global organization.
  • Proven expertise in Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred) and Lean/Toyota Production System (certification preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of machining, plating, and assembly processes.
  • Familiarity with quality tools and APQP methodologies (PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA).
  • Experience in supply chain, operations, business management, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong problem‑solving and project management skills, including Kaizen facilitation.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings (GD&T preferred) and perform production readiness assessments.
  • Experience working with global suppliers and customers.
