Job description

Staff Nurse/ Senior Staff Nurse (Emergency Room)

1. Plan, organize, communicate and evaluate the total care plan for the patients.

2. Guide and direct activities of co-workers as they provide patient care.

3. Provide supervisory support within the assigned area.

4. Triage patient upon arrival and set priorities.

5. Observe record of vital signs of patient and report all abnormality of patient’s condition to ER Doctor.

6. Assist doctors in examination of patients.

7. Ensure doctor’s orders, treatment and investigations are being carried out.

8. Administration of medications, record use of DDA drugs and other given treatment.

9 Carry out nursing procedures for patients e.g. insertion of Ryles tube, catheterization for male patient and dressing.

10. Carry out diagnostic / therapeutic procedure when required e.g. ECG, nebulizer, blood glucose monitoring.

11. Performs extended roles when required e.g. IV cannulation

12. Prepare trolley and assist in performing special procedures e.g. endotracheal intubation and chest tube insertion

13. Arrange patient for admission, transfer to another hospital or for discharges.

14. Assist in coordinating of ambulance services.

15. Transfer of ill / trauma patients needing hospitalization toother hospital by ambulance.

16. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager of the unit.
