Responsibilities

• Establish a good workflow for the surgery day and attending to the surgery patients.
• Assist Nursing Manager in daily surgery cases.
• Coordinate with colleagues from other departments to ensure smooth surgery day running.
• Consistently provide the best patient experience to increase satisfaction.
• Manage the administrative part of the surgery day including dispensing and collections.
• Ensure correct patient identification and consent forms are signed.
• Maintain operation theatre cleanliness and ensure sterile conditions.
• Assist with operation theatre administrative tasks.

Job description

Responsibilities

• a) Establish a good work flow for the surgery day and attending to the surgery patients
• b) Assist Nursing Manager in daily surgery cases.
• c) Coordinating with colleagues from other department to ensure the smooth-running surgery day
• d) Consistently trying to give the best patient experience to the patients, thus increase patient satisfaction
• e) Managing the administrative part of the surgery day such as dispensing and surgery collection.
• f) Checks and identifies the correct patient for the correct surgery, taking special note of the consent, site of operation, allergy etc
• g) Ensure all documentation are done properly especially the Operating notes. Consent forms are being signed by the patient and the attending doctor.
• h) Maintain the operation theatre and the sterile equipment and instruments are always at the most sterile state.
• i) Maintain cleanliness and safety for patients in the operation theatre complex and at the clinic. Maintain and manage the inventory related to the medical supplies
• j) Assist and communicate with your supervisor with the operation theatre-related administrative work.
• k) Learn to perform the duties of an eye operating theatre nurse and other related duties required in an eye clinic.

Counseling

• a) Counsel patients for cataract and other eye surgery or procedures
• b) Ensure patients to understand their specific eye problem, treatment options and their medical condition post counselling
• c) Being emphatic and provide good support for the patient
