A leading defense technology company located in Johor, Malaysia, is seeking a Procurement Specialist to source and procure electronic components and materials. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of sourcing or procurement experience, preferably in defense or aerospace. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, strong negotiation skills, and proficiency in ERP systems, such as SAP, are essential. This role involves ensuring supplier compliance with quality standards and supporting cost optimization initiatives.
Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic / Electric / Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
Working Experience/Skills:
2–5 years of sourcing or procurement experience, preferably in defense, aerospace, or industrial manufacturing environments.
Strong technical understanding of electrical, mechanical, and electro‑mechanical components.
Experience with global sourcing challenges.
Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems.
Knowledge of quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001) is required. Knowledge of AS9100 is an advantage.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Source and procure electronic components, fabricated items and higher assembly modules for PCBA, box build, and equipment assembly projects for defense, military, aerospace, and industrial domains.
Review and evaluate supplier qualifications to ensure compliance with AS9100D and other relevant quality standards for fabricated items (e.g. mechanical parts - machining, sheet metal, PCB, plastic parts & etc).
Assess purchasing needs based on project requirements and align sourcing with approved plans and budgets.
Analyze market trend, supplier capabilities and economic factors to identify potential risk and opportunities in sourcing process.
Support cost optimization and reduction initiatives across both new and legacy projects.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Engineering, Supply Chain, Commodity Managers, and Global Suppliers.
Maintain supplier database and records in SAP; monitor supplier performance and develop improvement plans when necessary.
Ensure compliance align with company procurement policy and procedure.
