Job summary

A leading technology distributor in Malaysia is seeking a presales support specialist. This role involves providing technical solutions, coaching sales teams, and managing stakeholder relationships. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, prior presales experience, and knowledge of vendor technologies including Cisco. Qualifications

Job description

Provides Presales support for the assigned Cisco Data Center Architecture, Pure Storage, Rubrik, LogicMonitor and Opengear solutions to our Sales and BDM team, prioritizing effort based on maximizing total impact on team productivity and profit, or as directed by the direct reporting manager.

Proactively scopes the technical solution required to address customer requirements, assesses customer’s requirement, and recommends solutions that optimize value for both the customer and their firm.

Secures input from all necessary solution stakeholders within the Partner/end user firm. Adapts accordingly, when necessary, to ensure appropriate solution is provided.

Coordinates closely with internal sales, vendor sales and technical support, and service resources to align solution design with customers’ business requirements.

Provides coaching and professional development for Sales, BDM team and partners to enhance their product knowledge, technical acumen, and technical sales skills.

Opportunistically pursues additional business opportunities within customer firms. Collaborates with sales to ensure such opportunities effectively covered and advanced.

Conduct proof of concept initiatives when required to drive the closure for deals.

Self‑study and attend vendor workshop to attain relevant vendor’s certification for accreditation requirement and upkeep the skill to support the latest solutions of the relevant architecture and technologies.

Skills and knowledge:

Strong people skills: ability to build strong relationships quickly and effectively.

Strong technical skills including the ability to design, size, propose, demo, and evaluate networks, Data Center, storage, remote management, backup and recovery, and SIEM solutions.

Good administrative skills with mindfulness and good follow‑up.

Knowledge of various vendor technologies/solutions offering, preferably for Cisco Data Center, Pure Storage, Rubrik, LogicMonitor and Opengear with ability to position assorted products mix correctly and effectively as a solution.

Understanding of and ability to apply the relevant and effective solutions to address customer needs.

Previous presales experience or certification would be recommended for this role.

Be initiative‑taking, willing to learn, result‑oriented, independent with good attitude.

Possess ambitious attitude and enjoy working in a fast paced, dynamic industry.

Previous experience in distribution environment supporting reseller market would be highly recommended.

Experience

Equivalent of 5 years related working experience in distribution with solutions sales.

Demonstrable experience in Solutions/Presales capacity in a channel environment, preferably in the IT distribution industry.
