Job Description

We currently seek asocial media specialist & content creatorto advance our public engagement work in Southeast Asia. In this role, with your expertise, you will help refine and implement our social media strategy, produce engaging blogs and social media content consistent with our messaging guidelines, and help maintain and grow Mercy For Animals’ social presence in Southeast Asia.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the creation and execution of the social media engagement strategy.
  • Manage content for Southeast Asia’s social media channels, which may include Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.
  • Write blogs and other content for Mercy For Animals SEA websites.
  • Create content for our regional social media platforms, including writing posts, creating graphics/visuals, and editing short videos.
  • Promote external content that aligns with Mercy For Animals’ mission (e.g., news articles and investigation videos from other groups)
  • Help coordinate with the regional communications manager, creative, and video-production teams to develop social media content for Southeast Asia and organisation-wide campaigns.
  • Ensure social media content aligns with internal messaging guidelines.
  • Keep abreast of the latest social media news, including trending campaigns.
  • Stay apprised of local, national, and international news stories about our mission.
  • Manage social media during live events.
  • Adhere to all organisational policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the team leader.
Role Requirements

We are looking for candidates with following skills and experience:

  • Three years experience in social media advocacy or a closely related field
  • Experience writing for social media content and creating compelling graphics and visuals.
  • Some experience with video editing
  • Experience collaborating with a distributed team
  • Thorough knowledge of or willingness to learn existing and emerging social media channels
  • Thorough knowledge of or willingness to learn social media measurement software, tools, and procedures
  • Ability to professionally advocate Mercy For Animals’ positions
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluency in Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Indonesia, Tagalog or Thai (preferred)
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Mercy For Animals
