A technology company in Malaysia is seeking an SMT Process Engineer to design and refine assembly processes while ensuring high yield and quality. The role involves operating SMT and AOI machines, as well as conducting DFM reviews with engineering teams. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Manufacturing Engineering, with 3–5 years of related experience. Strong knowledge of SMT equipment and excellent problem-solving skills are essential. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
Design, implement, and refine SMT assembly processes (solder paste printing, pick‑and‑place, reflow soldering, AOI).
Establish and maintain process parameters to achieve high yield and quality.
Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews with engineering teams.
Program, operate, and maintain SMT machines (e.g., Fuji, Juki) & AOI machines (MPM, Mirtec).
Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
Ensure calibration and accuracy of placement and inspection systems.
Monitor and analyze defect trends
Implement corrective actions using root cause analysis and SPC tools.
Ensure compliance with IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and ESD safety standards.
Work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to align component packaging and handling requirements.
Train operators and technicians on SMT processes and best practices.
Support new product introduction (NPI) and prototype builds.
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in SMT process engineering or PCB assembly.
Strong knowledge of SMT equipment, soldering materials, and PCB design principles.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and SPC methodologies.
Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work in fast‑paced, multicultural environments.
Experience with AOI/X‑ray inspection systems.
Knowledge of ERP/MES systems for production tracking.
Hands‑on experience with stencil design and solder paste evaluation.
Familiarity with RoHS, REACH, and other regulatory compliance requirements.
