We are seeking an experiencedSIRIM & Regulatory Certification Specialistto join our consulting team.
This role focuses onmanaging multiple client projectsand providingregulatory pathway analysis and certification solutionsfor a wide range of regulated products entering the Malaysian market.
Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory Applications & Compliance
- Manage end-to-end regulatory and certification applications for multiple clients and product categories
- Apply and manage Certificate of Approval (COA), import permits, and relevant regulatory approvals
- Handle SIRIM product testing (full or partial), including Energy Using Products, assessment letters, and verification testing
- Manage SIRIM Product Certification Scheme, including license application, renewal, and new product listings
- Apply and manage SIRIM MCTS consignment approvals, including inspection coordination and labeling requirements
- Coordinate SIRIM labeling and relabeling (rework) activities with 3PL warehouses
- Apply Type Approval / COC with MCMC for WiFi and Bluetooth-enabled products
- Apply DOE e-Permit for regulated products such as air conditioners and refrigerators
- Liaise with regulators and certification bodies to clarify interpretations and resolve compliance discrepancies
- Coordinate corrective actions, resubmissions, and follow‑ups with clients and labs
- Manage multiple clients and certification projects concurrently, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and service quality
- Prioritize regulatory tasks across different clients, products, and approval timelines
- Provide regular and clear progress updates to internal teams and clients
3. Regulatory Pathway Assessment & Solution Design
- Assess client products, business models, and import scenarios to determine the most appropriate regulatory and certification pathways
- Advise clients on certification scope, applicable standards, testing requirements, timelines, costs, and compliance risks
- Design practical and compliant solutions, including alternative pathways when standard routes are not feasible
- Support sales and project teams with regulatory feasibility assessment during pre‑sales or early project stages
4. Documentation, Knowledge Sharing & Process Improvement
- Maintain accurate records of approvals, licenses, reports, and regulatory correspondence
- Contribute to the development and improvement of internal SOPs, checklists, and regulatory guidelines
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, or related disciplines
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in:
- SIRIM certification and product compliance
- Regulatory applications for electrical, electronic, or regulated consumer products
- Experience working in a consulting firm, certification body, distributor, or manufacturing environment is highly preferred
- Strong practical knowledge of:
- SIRIM certification schemes and MCTS consignment process
- MCMC Type Approval / COC requirements
- DOE e‑Permit and energy‑related regulations
- Familiarity with Malaysian regulatory authorities and processes
- Proven ability to manage multiple regulatory projects in parallel
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate compliance routes and design certification strategies
- Consulting mindset with the ability to balance regulatory compliance, timelines, and commercial considerations
- Excellent coordination, follow‑up, and documentation skills
- Clear and professional communication skills in English (Mandarin is an added advantage)
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
