Job summary

A leading manufacturing company in Malaysia is seeking an experienced logistics professional to manage shipping and customs arrangements. The ideal candidate should possess a diploma or degree in supply chain management or a related field, with at least 3 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly in logistics. Responsibilities include liaising with transportation companies, negotiating supplier terms, and ensuring efficient shipping processes. This role requires excellent communication and analytical skills, and may involve travel.

Job description
Requirements

Candidate must possess at least a Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or equivalent.

Minimum of 3 years’ relevant working experience in a manufacturing industry (heavy industry) with exposure to shipping, customs and logistics functions.

Knowledge of MITI, MIDA, Royal Customs and Dangerous Goods Cargo documentation.

Possess excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

Meticulous, analytical, proactive, independent and resourceful.

Travelling is required.

Based in Simpang Lima, Parit Buntar, Perak.

Responsibilities

To be responsible for shipping/forwarding/custom/inland logistic/port arrangements (inbound and outbound) to ensure timely resolution of issues and delivery deadlines.

To liaise with shipping companies, transportation companies, port authority and internal departments to ensure efficiency of shipping and logistics functions.

To negotiate and bargain with suppliers to achieve optimum terms with highest benefits; to eliminate from the list any non-performing suppliers.

To review cost savings opportunities to meet and exceed the Management’s operational cost objectives and KPIs.

To monitor shipping scheduling and collaborate with various operational departments at various manufacturing locations as well as external parties to ensure strategic delivery plans.

To stay updated with relevant legislations and communicate timely updates to the Management.

To establish document filing system for all concluded negotiations.

To ensure that overall purchasing activities are carried out professionally, ethically and in a timely manner.
