Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Service Technician to join our team, responsible for the installation, calibration, repair, and maintenance of a wide range of weighing scales used across various industries. The ideal candidate will have experience in the calibration of measurement equipment, especially under ISO17025 standards, and possess strong technical troubleshooting skills to support our clients in ensuring accurate and reliable weighing systems. This is a client‑facing, on‑site role that requires travel to customer locations, providing high‑quality technical support while maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience:
- Proven experience (1 year) in servicing, repairing, and calibrating industrial or commercial weighing scales.
- Strong understanding of ISO17025 calibration standards and practices.
- Experience with a variety of weighing scales (bench, platform, truck scales, etc.) is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in the use of testing equipment (Digital multimeter), mechanical tools, and software for calibration and diagnostics.
- Ability to troubleshoot both mechanical and electronic issues effectively.
- Education:
- Technical diploma / degree / certification in Electronics, Engineering, Mechanical Systems, or a related field is preferred.
- Additional certifications in ISO17025 calibration, electrical maintenance, or other relevant areas are a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Detail‑oriented with a strong focus on quality and compliance.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to travel to customer sites as required (travel may be local or national, depending on business needs).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and tools (weight block) up to 20 kg as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation of Weighing Equipment:
- Perform on‑site installations of various types of industrial and commercial weighing scales, including bench scales, platform scales, and truck scales.
- Ensure proper setup and configuration of equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
- ISO17025 Calibration:
- Perform calibration of weighing scales in accordance with ISO17025 standards to ensure accurate, traceable, and reliable measurements.
- Conduct routine and periodic calibration checks and ensure that the equipment meets customer and regulatory requirements.
- Maintenance & Repair:
- Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in electronic, mechanical, and software components of weighing scales.
- Perform necessary repairs and replacements, both on‑site and in the workshop as required.
- Carry out preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal equipment performance and reduce downtime.
- Customer Support & Training:
- Provide on‑site support to customers, ensuring that their equipment operates efficiently and accurately.
- Offer guidance and training to customers on the proper use, care, and maintenance of their weighing equipment.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed service reports for all activities performed, including calibration certificates, service records, and repairs.
- Complete all necessary documentation to comply with internal standards and customer requirements.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations while working on customer premises.
- Ensure compliance with relevant calibration standards, including ISO17025, to maintain the quality and integrity of services provided.
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction and support long‑term business opportunities.
- Communicate technical information effectively and professionally to non‑technical stakeholders.
Additional Information
- Work Environment: Field‑based, requiring frequent visits to client sites. Must be able to work in various environments including manufacturing plants, warehouses, and outdoor locations.
- On‑Call Availability: May be required to be on call for urgent repair services during non‑business hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Training: Ongoing training will be provided to stay updated on industry standards, new calibration technologies, and equipment advancements.
