SENIOR STAFF NURSE / STAFF NURSE (PAEDS)
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Staff Nurse / Staff Nurse to join our Paediatrics department. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients, collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team, and support families through every stage of care. This role demands a compassionate approach, excellent clinical skills, and a passion for working with children.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and managing medical equipment.
- Ensure the emotional and psychological well-being of children and their families.
- Assist with diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments as required.
- Communicate effectively with families to educate and guide them about the child’s condition, treatment plans, and home care.
- Address family concerns with empathy and provide emotional support.
- Work closely with pediatricians, specialists, and the healthcare team to develop and implement care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure optimal patient care.
- Observe and assess changes in patients’ conditions and take immediate action when necessary.
- Document and report patient progress and incidents accurately in the medical record system.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and healthcare standards to ensure patient safety.
- Maintain strict infection control protocols in the pediatric unit.
- Participate in training programs, workshops, and seminars to stay updated on the latest pediatric nursing practices.
- Mentor junior nurses and assist with their skill development.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing (essential).
- Valid nursing license from the relevant authority (e.g., Malaysian Nursing Board or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in pediatric nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of child development, pediatric illnesses, and treatment procedures.
