Job Purpose
The Senior Specialist Industrial Relations is responsible for managing and maintaining positive employee relations, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations, and handling all industrial relations issues within the organisation. This role involves developing strategies to foster a collaborative work environment, resolving workplace disputes, and advising on labor policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with HR Business Partners (HRBP) to address and resolve Industrial Relations matters across companies.
- Manage and resolve employee grievances, disciplinary issues, and misconduct cases in a timely and fair manner.
- Conduct investigations and prepare documentation for domestic inquiries and other IR-related proceedings.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian labor laws, regulations, and internal HR policies.
- Provide expert guidance to line managers and HRBP on handling sensitive employee relations issues.
- Develop and implement IR policies, procedures, and best practices to support a positive work environment.
- Monitor trends in employee behavior and workplace dynamics to proactively address potential IR risks.
- Prepare reports and updates for management on IR cases, outcomes, and recommendations.
- Support audits and compliance reviews related to Industrial Relations.
- Coordinate and support HR’s role in compliance with:
- Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABAC) policies and training, including employee pledge coordination and reporting mechanisms
- Sexual Harassment prevention campaigns, policy dissemination, and incident reporting protocols
- Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) initiatives in collaboration with relevant departments
- Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) compliance, including employee data handling and disclosure practices
- Work collaboratively with the Legal Manager and Data Protection Officer to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and internal governance standards
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial relations or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
