Job summary

A leading LED technology firm is seeking a Senior/R&D Product Characterization Engineer in Penang, Malaysia. This role focuses on generating detailed Product Characterization reports, engaging in problem-solving, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. Candidates with experience in statistical engineering and a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field are preferred. A positive work attitude and ability to lead investigations are essential. Junior engineers are encouraged to apply as well.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 - 5 years of experience in related fields.
• Experience in Product Engineering and Characterization is an advantage.
• Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is preferable.

Who You Are

We are looking for someone with technical background with experience in data analysis or statistical tool, optical knowledge with good problem-solving and skill that able to drive cross function teams for deep dive investigation. Those with knowledge and experience in Product Engineering, Product Characterization and Test Process/methodology in a LED semiconductor industry will have an added advantage.

What You Will Do

Generates in depth and advance Product Characterization reports that contain thorough analysis which will help project teams make sound decisions, taking into account the technical risks involved.

Proactively participate problem solving of product performance related issues.

Ensures Product Characterization analysis report at the various Milestone stages cover the various aspects of the Product Development and Manufacturing concerns including product performance, yield and utilization.

Ensures product performance matches product datasheet specifications/must-wants at every stage of the product creation process. Able to communicate clearly to project team on the summary of product performance with proposal on product performance spec.

Engage project team from early stage of product development and closely follow up until product released for mass production.

Liaise with cross functional team ensuring the availability of information that crucial to product performance analysis, such as traceability of parts, variability in material/process/tool, etc.

Required Qualifications

Strong interpersonal skills. Able to communicate clearly with the Engineering and Project team he/she is involved with and lead team into root cause findings and Management team (if required).

Proactive and able to lead with clear summary of findings, alongside with deep dive analysis skillset.

Experienced and hands on knowledge with structured improvement techniques and associated tools such as Statistical Engineering, Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certified, Minitab and/or JMP, Design Expert, DOE, 7QC, SPST (Structured Problem Solving Tools), FMEA, DRBFM and others.

Passion for Work – possesses positive and open work attitude, willing to stretch to meet Business Goals.

Preferred Qualifications

Combination of experience in any two function either Characterization, Product, Process, Test or Failure Analysis, especially for LED products.
