Job summary

A contractor company in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage tender pricing, prepare documents, and evaluate subcontractor quotations. The ideal candidate will have a Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying and at least 5 years of experience in the construction industry. Responsibilities include preparing progress payments and maintaining records for variations. Competitive salary based on experience.

Job description

Contractor company based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pricing of bills of quantities (BQ) for tender documents.
  • Preparation of documents for submission of tender.
  • Calling of quotations for pricing of BQ.
  • Measurement for BQ based on preliminary drawings.
  • Consult with Contract Manager/General Manager on pricing and strategy.
  • Prepare summary extracts of BQ.
  • Review and negotiate quotations submitted by subcontractors.
  • Prepare summary of quotations for review and further negotiation by Contract Manager.
  • Prepare letters of award for subcontractors.
  • Evaluate and prepare progress payments to subcontractors, including variation order claims (must be substantiated and submitted by subcontractors).
  • Prepare progress payment claims and liaise with consultant quantity surveyor for evaluation and certification.
  • Maintain proper records of additional/variation works, consultant instructions, and changes in drawings for variation order claims.
  • Check for changes between tender drawings and construction drawings.
  • Verify material requisitions from site and check budgeted allocations for materials to labour subcontractors, including wastages.
  • Responsible for submission of samples and ensuring compliance with BQ and specifications.
  • Remeasure actual work done for each subcontractor based on as-built drawings.
  • Settle final accounts with subcontractors, including adjustments for remeasured quantities, back charges (material purchases, wastages, fines, cleaning, etc.).
Requirements
