Overview
Job Summary:
- Responsible for all Materials and Process development activities to support EHS, Quality and Cost improvement opportunities.
- Responsible for management of latex compounding, process chemical and oversee waste management and disposal to comply with DOE requirements and standard.
- Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.
Job Responsibilities
- Execute and implement the BD Excellence workflow.
- Manages and supervises the Compounding and Catheter Offline Dipping Equipment (CODE) operations.
- Continue EHS improvement initiatives to reduce EHS risks of processes.
- Plan and execute new material qualifications to support Business continuity (Stay in Business).
- Oversee the chemical and latex preparation for production use to comply with requirements.
- Oversee waste management and alcohol recovery process to ensure its compliance to Waste Disposal / management of DOE and High Hazard Operation requirements.
- Lead & motivate key personnel to continue seeking opportunities for continuous improvement to meet yield expectations.
- Work closely with COE (UCC) on latex technology initiatives and knowledge transfers to local team.
Education and Experience
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Polymer Science, Latex Technology, Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years working experience in a similar field is required for this position.
Knowledge and Skills
- Medical Device manufacturing experience an advantage
- Lean and/or Six Sigma certification an advantage
- Scheduled Waste Management - Proficient
- Independent thinking / Self Driven – Advanced
- Decision Making Ability – Advanced
- Troubleshooting / Problem Solving – Advanced
- Safety & Ergonomics Expertise – Proficient
- Quality Systems Knowledge – Proficient

- Employees are exposed to moderate chemical processes.
- Employees are frequently exposed to moderate noise, 20 C – 40 C temperatures.
- Consultant to Process engineers on the material sciences related knowledge for yield and process improvement.
- Manage Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions (CAPA) documentation and relevant action items.
- Schedule the monthly stock count and /or instructed by finance department.
- Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.
