The Work You’ll Do:

The Pre‑Sales Engineer will work closely with Direct Sales and Alliance teams to support the full sales cycle for Sovos’ tax and compliance technology solutions, with a primary focus on Malaysia.

This role is suited to a confident, commercially minded pre‑sales professional who can work independently, lead customer discovery, and position solutions effectively. Deep local tax expertise is not a prerequisite; success in this role depends on strong sales engineering fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to quickly research and understand customer challenges.

  • Act as a trusted technical and solution advisor throughout the sales cycle
  • Lead customer discovery sessions to understand business pain points, transaction flows, and system landscapes
  • Translate customer and regulatory requirements into clear, scalable solution designs
  • Confidently position and “sell” the solution, not just explain product features
  • Support customers impacted by Malaysian requirements, including SST and the MyInvois e‑Invoicing framework
  • Partner with Sales to deliver tailored solution presentations and demonstrations
  • Prepare high‑quality technical input for RFPs, RFIs, and proposals
  • Work independently to research customer use cases and industry context ahead of meetings
  • Collaborate with global pre‑sales, Product, and Professional Services teams to ensure solution alignment
  • Support smooth handover from pre‑sales to implementation
  • Maintain and improve demo environments reflecting Malaysian scenarios
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of pre‑sales processes and best practices
  • Communicate complex technical and regulatory topics clearly and confidently
  • Operate effectively across time zones and with remote stakeholders
What We Need From You
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 1–3 years’ experience in pre‑sales, sales engineering
  • Proven ability to run discovery, prepare for meetings, and influence customer decisions
  • Confidence working independently with limited regional support
  • Exposure to tax, compliance, finance, or regulatory technology is a plus
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Commercial mindset and comfort supporting sales conversations
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
  • Professional, ethical, and customer‑focused approach
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Additional languages are an advantage
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within the region
