Job summary

A molecular diagnostic company is seeking a Senior Medical Technologist to establish a new lab in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. The role involves leading the setup of laboratory operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing quality molecular diagnostic services. The ideal candidate has over 5 years of relevant experience, strong skills in RT-qPCR and molecular workflows, and the ability to supervise junior staff. This role requires occasional evening shifts and Saturday rotations.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in a clinical molecular diagnostics laboratory.
  • Hands-on experience with RT-qPCR, nucleic acid extraction, and molecular workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and laboratory accreditation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the setup of the new clinical laboratory, including equipment installation and workflow design.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Perform and oversee molecular assays from sample receipt to reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with CAP, ISO 15189, and local requirements.
  • Supervise and train Medical Technologists.
  • Manage laboratory inventory, procurement, and cost control.
  • Maintain electronic records with emphasis on data integrity.
  • Serve as point-of-contact for troubleshooting technical issues.
