Job summary

A leading consultancy firm based in Malaysia is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to oversee project designs and management. You will be responsible for engineering duties, including planning, design, and contractor performance management. The ideal candidate should possess a recognised degree in Mechanical Engineering and over 5 years of MEP engineering experience, particularly in data centre design. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential. Opportunities for overseas travel are included in this role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years relevant experience in Mechanical System.
• Over 5 years of MEP engineering working experience, including data centre design projects.
• Registered IMECHE or Chartered Engineer is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering duties such as planning, engineering design, tender, testing and commissioning.
• Produce MEP designs and engineering support in large scale projects.
• Lead and manage full mechanical design lifecycle.
• Monitor project progress for quality and safety standards.
• Manage performance of all consultants and contractors.
• Participate in client meetings and incorporate feedback.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical due diligence.
• Coach junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Performing engineering duties such as planning, engineering design, tender, testing and commissioning.
• Produce MEP designs and engineering support in large scale projects.
• Lead and manage full mechanical design lifecycle, ensuring compliance with internal protocols and industry best practices.
• Monitor project progress to ensure it is completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality and safety standards.
• Manage performance of all consultants, contractors and other external vendors.
• Participate in client meetings, incorporate their feedback effectively, and forster enduring professional relationships.
• Conduct feasibility studies, technical due diligence studies.
• Coaching junior engineers.
• Occassional overseas travel may be required to join customers' project meetings.

Requirements

• Recognised degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years relevant experience in Mechanical System.
• Over 5 years of MEP engineering working experience, including data centre design projects.
• Able to work independently and as a team with good interpersonal skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Registered IMECHE or Chartered Engineer is preferred.
• Candidate with new building Data Centre Design experienceis preferred.
