A premier design firm in Selangor is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to lead design projects and oversee the furniture manufacturing process. The successful candidate will manage a design team, collaborate with various internal teams, and work closely with clients to ensure project success. Ideal applicants will have a relevant degree, over 5 years of industry experience, and proficiency in key design software. The Senior Interior Designer plays a crucial role in supporting the Design and Engineering Department. This position involves overseeing the design and engineering aspect of furniture manufacturing, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the successful execution of interior fit-out projects.
Assist in managing the design team by providing guidance, feedback, and support throughout the design and engineering related process.
Work closely with internal teams, including product development, production, and business development, to ensure effective communication and seamless integration of design concepts into manufacturing processes, translate design concepts into practical and functional furniture solutions.
Assist in creating detailed design briefs, including project scope, timelines, and budget considerations, for both furniture manufacturing and interior fit-out projects.
Collaborate with clients, architects, and interior designers to understand project requirements, present design proposals, and provide expert advice on furniture value engineering, construction method and manufacturability.
Assist in managing and coordinating interior fit-out projects, including site visits, material sourcing, and liaising with contractors to ensure timely and quality project completion.
Maintain accurate documentation of design projects, including design specifications, technical drawings, and material samples.
Assist in quality control and ensure that design standards are met throughout the manufacturing and installation processes.
Conduct market research and stay updated on the latest trends, materials, and technologies in the furniture and interior design industry, specifically in the Malaysian market.
Foster a creative and collaborative work environment, promoting innovation and continuous improvement within the design team.
Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Furniture Design, or a related field. A relevant professional certification is an added advantage.
Proven experience (5 years) in furniture factory, preferably within the Malaysian furniture industry, with knowledge of interior fit-out projects.
Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite. Proficient in IMOS, Wood CadCam, is an added advantage.
Strong understanding of furniture manufacturing processes, materials, and construction techniques.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate design concepts to clients, colleagues, and contractors.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, while also taking initiative and working independently when required.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
Attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics, ensuring that design concepts align with the company's brand image and client expectations.
