About the role

As a General Ledger Senior Accountant supporting the Europe region, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial results. This role goes beyond transactional processing—it demands ownership of financial data, analytical rigour, and a strong command of digital tools and technologies. You will collaborate across functions including Compliance, Tax, Statutory, and the broader Kerry GBS organisation, driving automation and continuous improvement in financial operations.

Reporting to: Intercompany Controller


Key responsibilities


  • Lead and execute timely financial close activities (monthly, quarterly, annual) in alignment with the close calendar.

  • Ensure integrity and substantiation of general ledger balances, leveraging automation tools for reconciliation and validation.

  • Prepare and review journal entries (accruals, prepayments, reclasses) with a focus on accuracy, relevance, and system efficiency.

  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations; proactively resolve discrepancies and identify risks or optimisation opportunities.

  • Review balance sheet reconciliations on behalf of the RTR Europe GL Controller for small and medium-sized entities, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and alignment with business performance.

  • Analyse financial results using digital dashboards and provide insightful commentary on variances, trends, and performance drivers.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial transactions reflect operational reality and are digitally traceable.

  • Support subledger processes including reconciliations, settlements, and issue resolution

  • Assist in preparing internal and external financial reports, ensuring compliance with IFRS and internal digital policies.

  • Experienced in intercompany accounting processes.

  • Act as a key contact for internal/external audits, providing clear documentation and system-based evidence.

  • Drive continuous improvement in GL processes, controls, and reporting quality through digitalisation and automation.

  • Contribute to ERP and financial system enhancements, UAT testing, and process documentation.

  • Champion the adoption of emerging technologies (AI, RPA, machine learning) to streamline RTR operations.


Qualifications and skills


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Financial Accounting with proven ownership of GL responsibilities.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (IFRS preferred).

  • Proficient in SAP FI/CO, Microsoft Excel, and Power BI.

  • Experience with automation technologies such as RPA (e.g., UiPath), AI tools, and workflow orchestration platforms.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Copilot, Power Automate, and other AI-driven financial tools.

  • Experience in a Shared Services or GBS environment is highly desirable.

  • Ability to manage deadlines, prioritise tasks, and work independently in a digital-first environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
