A travel and tourism company in Malaysia seeks an experienced Operations Manager to drive sales initiatives, manage travel operations, and lead a team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 5 years of management experience in the travel industry. Responsibilities include nurturing vendor relationships, ensuring operational efficiency, and developing marketing strategies. Drive sales and marketing initiatives, particularly with PDRM and corporate clients, to strengthen business partnerships and expand market reach.
Supervise day-to-day support activities and evaluate work quality, procedures and overall efficiency.
Ensure all operations are carried out in an appropriate, efficient and cost-effective manner.
Lead, coach and develop the Operations team to achieve both personal and company performance targets.
Promote and market KTTSB products to new, niche and high-potential markets.
Perform quality control checks and monitor production output as well as subordinates’ KPIs.
Respond promptly and professionally to client requests and inquiries.
Plan and coordinate administrative procedures and systems while identifying opportunities to streamline processes.
Assess staff performance and provide guidance to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.
Manage all aspects of travel operations including reservations, ticketing, travel coordination and customer support.
Work closely with higher management to evaluate and improve administrative processes for better overall efficiency.
Maintain positive working relationships with travel vendors such as hotels, airlines and other service providers.
Negotiate preferred rates with direct travel vendors to maximize value and cost savings.
Maintain strong rapport with key clients, including PDRM, government agencies and corporate partners.
Develop and create tour products tailored to market needs and trends.
Implement innovative ideas and alternative approaches to secure new business opportunities.
Develop market strategies, identify potential new markets and prepare supporting plans and initiatives.
Participate in familiarization (FAM) trips to new destinations to gather insights on customer-relevant facilities and attractions, including Tourism Malaysia programs.
Prepare and present administrative updates, including sales reports and personnel-related matters to higher management.
Ensure business operations comply with company policies, guidelines, SOPs and maintain zero damage to company reputation, credibility and productivity.
Undertake additional projects and responsibilities that support and strengthen KTTSB’s position in the travel industry.
Strong proficiency in reservation systems, ticketing software and travel booking platforms.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Proven experience in team leadership and staff management.
Experience in sales and marketing, promoting products and services to clients.
High attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities.
Bachelor's degree in travel and tourism, business or a related field. Relevant certifications are a plus.
At least 5 years of experience in a management role within the travel and tourism industry.
