A global leader in measurement solutions is seeking a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist in Bayan Lepas, Malaysia. The role involves managing environmental programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving sustainability initiatives. The ideal candidate has at least 8 years of experience in EHS, a relevant degree, and strong project management skills. You will oversee WWTP operations and support corporate sustainability reporting, collaborating across multiple sites to promote environmental best practices.

Job description
Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site environmental programs(air, water, waste and energy management) aligned with corporate EHS policies and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental laws, permits, and regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for environmental performance and sustainability.
2. WWTP & STP Governance
  • Oversee the operation and compliance of WWTP and STP systems.
  • Monitor effluent quality, ensure adherence to discharge limits, and manage reporting to regulatory authorities.
  • Conduct periodic audits and risk assessments for treatment facilities.
  • Implement preventive and corrective actions for system reliability and compliance.
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs, including segregation, storage, transportation, and disposal.
  • Ensure compliance with waste handling regulations and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Drive waste minimization and recycling initiatives to support sustainability targets.
  • Drive sustainability projects and lead the Site Green Team to achieve site-level goals
4. Regional Support
  • Coordinate with Location EHS Support to deploy selected/applicable Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs across APAC offices, and labs.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, global standards, and corporate requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, audits, and provide technical guidance.
5. Governance & Reporting
  • Maintain environmental performance metrics and prepare monthly/quarterly reports for site and regional leadership.
  • Support corporate sustainability reporting and environmental data management systems.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies and external auditors as required.
  • Conduct EHS trainings for site and regional employees.
  • Promote EHS awareness and best practices across all supported locations.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in EHS with a strong focus on environmental compliance and systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with WWTP, STP operations, and waste management.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, 45000, local environmental regulations, and sustainability frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple sites and functions.
Preferred Certifications:
  • Certified EHS Professional or equivalent.
    • Safety and Health Officer(SHO)
    • Radiation Protection Officer(RPO)
  • WWTS, STP and Waste Management Certification (where applicable)
    • CePSWaM: Certified Environmental Professional in Scheduled Waste Management
    • CePIETSO-PCP/BP: Certified Environmental Professional in Industrial Effluent Treatment Systems (Physical Chemical/Biological Processes)
    • CePSTPO: Certified Environmental Professional in Sewage Treatment Plant Operation.
