Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Automotive Qualification Engineer to define, implement, and assess qualification strategies based on automotive standards, customer requirements, and market needs. In this role, you will manage qualification tests, ensure compliance with both internal and customer specifications, drive problem-solving efforts for qualification failures, and contribute to crisis management during deviations. This role also involves extensive communication with project leaders and teams, as well as managing product monitoring for a specific group of products.

Job Description
In your new role you will:

  • Develop qualification strategies based on automotive standards (e.g., AEC Q100, AEC Q006), customer-specific requirements, and market trends. Implement the strategies and assess their effectiveness.
  • Ensure that qualification tests are executed on time and within budget by effectively managing the preparation and execution of qualification tests, adhering to agreed-upon plans and schedules.
  • Provide regular, detailed reports to project leaders and core project teams about the status of qualification tests, progress, and any deviations from the plan.
  • Ensure the creation and maintenance of qualification documentation that meets both internal and customer standards, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and drive the problem-solving process (using the 8D methodology) for qualification failures, taking ownership of the process to quickly identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure that customers receive the necessary Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation in line with automotive industry standards.
  • Actively participate in focus and task force teams during crisis management situations arising from critical qualification deviations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve these issues swiftly and effectively.
  • Ensure that Quality Assurance experts are involved when needed, particularly for Functional Safety (e.g., ISO 26262) or other applicable quality standards.
  • Oversee the product monitoring process for a designated group of products. This includes setting up qualification plans, ensuring timely availability of results, assessing results, and taking necessary actions in response to any deviations.

Your Profile
You are best equipped for this task if you have:
  • A university degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a comparable field.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in Quality Management with a focus on product and/or technology development in the semiconductor or electronics industry.
  • Solid understanding of automotive qualification standards, including AEC Q100 and AEC Q006.
  • Strong understanding of automotive quality management systems, processes, and methods.
  • Basic knowledge of ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and its application in automotive products.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information to various internal and external stakeholders.
