The Server, Storage, and Data Center Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization’s server infrastructure, storage systems, and data center operations. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of core infrastructure components while leading a technical team in daily operations, incident management, and strategic infrastructure planning. The Team Leader provides leadership, direction, and development opportunities to engineers, technicians, and support staff, including task assignment, mentoring, and performance oversight to ensure operational excellence and alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers responsible for servers, storage, and data center operations.
  • Assign daily tasks, set priorities, monitor performance, and provide training for skill development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
2. Server Infrastructure Management
  • Oversee and manage the OpenNebula virtualization platform, including provisioning, VM lifecycle, and host clusters.
  • Ensure proper server performance, scalability, and security across physical and virtual environments.
  • Step in to maintain MI-cloud servers in the absence of the server engineer, ensuring uninterrupted service.
3. CEPH & Storage Operations
  • Oversee CEPH storage systems, ensuring optimal performance and proactively addressing issues.
  • Install, configure, and deploy storage systems, including SAN (Storage Area Network), NAS (Network Attached Storage), and DAS (Direct Attached Storage).
  • Implement and integrate storage management software and tools, ensuring compatibility with other enterprise systems.
  • Continuously monitor storage systems for performance, availability, and reliability.
  • Perform regular maintenance such as firmware updates, patch management, and system health checks.
  • Tune storage parameters and configurations based on workload and application requirements.
  • Maintain robust data backup and recovery processes to protect against data loss and ensure business continuity.
  • Provide end‑user and project support for storage-related queries, troubleshooting complex issues as needed.
  • Participate in storage design, implementation, and enhancement projects, contributing technical expertise to infrastructure roadmaps.
4. Data Center Oversight
  • Supervise day‑to‑day data center operations, including power, cooling, space allocation, and equipment management.
  • Ensure proper environmental controls and adherence to safety and operational best practices.
5. Security, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure storage and server infrastructure comply with security and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, PDPA).
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on vulnerability management and secure configurations.
6. Additional Responsibilities
  • Willingness to undertake any other duties as directed by the supervisor or management to support IT operations.
Qualification
  • Possess Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems and any other related academic background.
Professional Qualification
  • Certifications in CEPH, OpenNebula, ITIL, RHCSA, or storage systems are advantageous.
Work Experience
  • Storage Management: In‑depth knowledge of enterprise storage technologies, including CEPH, SAN, NAS, and experience configuring, managing, and optimizing storage solutions.
  • Server Administration: Proven expertise in installing, configuring, and maintaining physical and virtual servers, particularly within OpenNebula environments.
  • Virtualization Technologies: Strong experience with hypervisors such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper‑V, or KVM, including VM provisioning, lifecycle management, and performance tuning.
  • Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with public cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and hybrid‑cloud deployments, including infrastructure scaling and workload migration.
  • Networking: Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, routing protocols) and hands‑on experience configuring network interfaces, switches, and firewalls.
  • Scripting & Automation: Skilled in scripting with PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation of routine tasks, system provisioning, and configuration management.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Experience using tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus to monitor infrastructure health and troubleshoot server, storage, or network issues effectively.
  • Security Best Practices: Knowledge of IT security principles, including access controls, encryption, patching, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, PDPA, GDPR).
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery: Hands‑on experience with enterprise backup solutions and disaster recovery planning to maintain data integrity and business continuity.
  • Documentation: Ability to create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system diagrams, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with storage technologies: CEPH, SAN, NAS, DAS.
  • Proficiency in disk management, especially LVM (Logical Volume Manager).
  • Proficiency in Linux operating systems (Ubuntu, CentOS).
  • Knowledge of storage protocols: iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, SMB.
  • Knowledge of virtualization platforms: OpenNebula (core skill), KVM.
  • Experience with storage management software and tools.
  • Understanding of backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Familiarity with data security practices and compliance standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
