Job description

Senior Electrical Engineer / Project Manager

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with project management experience to take on a senior technical role within our consultancy. While renewable energy projects form the core of our portfolio, the role requires a strong all-round electrical engineering foundation, covering LV, MV, and HV systems, suitable for design review and project delivery in a consulting environment.

You will work closely with clients, EPC contractors, utilities (including TNB), and authorities across the full project lifecycle.

Work location : KL Eco City, Bangsar

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Engineering & Design Review

• Lead and review electrical engineering designs across multiple projects, including renewable energy projects (primarily Large-Scale Solar), LV, MV, and HV systems, substations, grid interconnections, and power distribution networks
• Review and verify technical submissions such as SLDs, protection schemes, earthing systems, cable sizing, equipment specifications, and interface designs
• Ensure compliance with TNB requirements and Grid Code, Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) guidelines, and relevant IEC, IEEE, and Malaysian standards
• Perform independent technical reviews of EPC submissions, including design drawings, calculations, method statements, and testing and commissioning documentation (FAT, SAT, PIAT)
• Act as Owner’s Engineer (OE) or Independent Engineer (IE) where required

Project Management & Coordination

• Manage projects across the full project lifecycle, including design development, construction support, testing, and commissioning
• Coordinate with clients, EPC contractors, OEMs, TNB, and regulatory authorities to ensure technical alignment and timely delivery
• Lead technical meetings, design reviews, and coordination discussions
• Support contract administration, technical clarifications, and technical issue resolution

Leadership & Professional Contribution

• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to junior engineers
• Support management in technical proposals, tenders, and project planning activities
• Represent North Consult Engineering Sdn Bhd in technical discussions with clients, utilities, and external stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 10–15 years of relevant electrical engineering with solar projects (LSS) experience
• Background in engineering consultancy or Owner’s Engineer experience will be preferred
• Strong knowledge of LV, MV, and HV systems and grid interface requirements
• Well-versed with TNB requirements and utility coordination processes
• Experience in project management or project coordination
• Professional Engineer (PE) registered with BEM preferred (PEPC is an added advantage)
