Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Malaysia is seeking an experienced procurement professional to identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate advantageous agreements, and manage purchasing strategies in alignment with operational needs. Candidates should have at least four years of relevant experience and a degree in Business, Management, or related fields. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong interpersonal skills are essential, fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is required.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery and reliability
  • Work closely with departments such as finance, operations and production to understand their needs and align purchasing strategies accordingly
  • Obtain timely price quotations (RFQ) and proposals (RFP) for services required by stakeholders
  • Negotiate terms and conditions in supply/service agreements to ensure they are commercially advantageous to the company while minimizing risk
  • Develop and maintain processes for continuous improvement to achieve work efficiency
  • Evaluate vendor performance and conduct regular assessments to ensure compliance
  • Report on purchasing metrics, such as cost savings and supplier performance
  • Ensure purchasing activities are compliant with the company’s policies
  • Manage the PR and PO process and approvals
  • Ensure all purchases are made on a timely basis with the right quantity and price through timely issuance of Purchase Orders
Requirements
  • At least four years of experience in a related field
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Finance, Supply Chain, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP management systems
  • Strong organizational and negotiation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication in English & Bahasa Malaysia
