Job summary

A leading energy company in Malaysia is seeking an experienced financial accountant to manage in-depth accounting and reporting responsibilities related to Fixed Assets and Inventories. Candidates should have a recognized degree in Accountancy, a minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience, and strong skills in SAP and Microsoft Office. This role demands meticulous accuracy under tight deadlines and involves liaising with auditors and internal tax departments. Preference will be given to internal candidates. Closing date for applications is 28 December 2025, offering a contract position.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6–8 years related working experience in accounting and reporting functions.
  • Member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • In-depth financial accounting and reporting responsibilities for Fixed Assets & Inventories.
  • Coordinate the month and year end SAP closing for financial reports.
  • Lead the assets disposal and write-off processes.
  • Review the reconciliation of capital contributions captured in SAP.

Key Accountabilities
  • In‑depth financial accounting and reporting – Fixed Assets & Inventories
  • Review monthly CCFI related reports to monitor balances, completeness and accuracy
  • Ensure month and year end SAP closing for CCFI within group reporting deadline
  • Review capitalisation of completed Capital Work‑In‑Progress into proper asset class
  • Lead the team for Assets Disposal & Write‑off
  • Review reconciliation prepared by Senior Accounts Assistant for the Capital Contribution operation captured by Distribution in SAP
  • Review proper capturing of cost in the WBS and analyse execution of WBS
  • Review WBS aging to identify any abandoned projects and block WBS when necessary
  • Review and monitor accrual for capex
  • Review vendor reconciliation prepared by Accounts Payable during month‑end closing process
  • Review inventories of each region and station balances, listing, aging and discrepancy
  • Review provision for slow moving stock
  • Schedule and coordinate cycle and year end stock take with proper reporting and control issue
  • Review reconciliations between stock take and GL balances
  • Support on PPE related adjustments, PPE disclosures and tax computations
  • Recommend ERP systems implementation and upgrading
  • Coordinate with independent auditors and internal tax department to resolve audit/tax issues
  • Provide coaching and knowledge sharing with team members
  • Involve in commercial evaluation and tender meetings, preparing financial viability reports as required
  • Carry out any other assignment or duties as instructed by the Head of Department/Division

  • Ensure financial and management reports comply with accounting standards and legislation
  • Work under fast‑paced environment and tight reporting deadlines while managing ad‑hoc tasks
  • Stay alert to changes in reporting requirements to comply with MFRS, Income Tax Act 1967 and Companies Act 2016
Qualification / Work Experience
  • Recognised Degree in Accountancy or equivalent professional qualification
  • Minimum 6–8 years related working experience in accounting and reporting functions
  • Member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) or equivalent
Skills
  • In‑depth knowledge of MFRS, IFRS and Companies Act 2016
