Job summary

A global financial services group in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Financial Accountant to manage month-end and year-end closing processes. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance and 3–5 years of experience, preferably in a multinational corporation. Proficiency in ERP systems like SAP or Oracle, along with strong analytical and interpersonal skills, is essential. Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in financial accounting or Record to Report (R2R).

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end and year-end closing, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial statements.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Conduct intercompany reconciliations and ensure proper settlement.
  • Prepare and file monthly tax reports and support compliance.
  • Support internal and external audit processes.

DOO you have what it takes?

What you’ll be working on:
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial statements.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Conduct intercompany reconciliationsand ensure proper settlement across entities.
  • Maintain balance sheet substantiations and supporting schedules.
  • Handle fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.
  • Ensure compliance with group accounting policiesand internal control standards.
  • Review accounts payable and accounts receivablepostings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in the monthly cashflow OPEX budgetreview and forecast updates.
  • Prepare and file monthly tax reports (e.g., VAT/GST) and support compliance requirements.
  • Support preparation of reports for local statutory and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage bank-related administrative mattersincluding maintenance and authorized signatory updates.
  • Liaise with outsourced accounting providers and conduct first-level reviewof their deliverables.
  • Support internal and external auditprocesses with necessary documentation and analysis.
  • Identify and drive process improvementswithin the R2R function.
What we’re looking for:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Prior experience in a multinational corporation highly preferred.
  • Exposure to multi-entity and multi-currency accounting environments.
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Proficient in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
  • Solid understanding of tax compliance, banking procedures, and fixed asset management.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English.
  • Team player with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
