Job summary

A leading rubber manufacturing company in Malaysia is seeking a skilled SCADA & PLC Programmer (Automation Engineer) to enhance its production lines. The ideal candidate will have robust expertise in Siemens PLC systems and TIA Portal, overseeing all aspects of automation project lifecycles. Responsibilities include developing SCADA systems, process optimization through PID control, and troubleshooting automation failures. A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 3–5 years of industrial automation experience are required. This is a full-time position in a dynamic engineering team.

SCADA & PLC PROGRAMMER (AUTOMATION ENGINEER)

We are currently looking for a highly skilled SCADA & PLC Programmer to join our engineering team to lead the digital transformation and optimization of our production lines.

Role Purpose

The SCADA & PLC PROGRAMMER (Automation Engineer) will be the subject matter expert for our Siemens-based control systems. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of industrial automation projects—from designing HMI/SCADA interfaces to programming complex PLC logic—ensuring our manufacturing processes are efficient, data‑driven, and minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities

System Design & Development: Develop, program, and commission Siemens PLC systems (S7-1200/1500) using TIA Portal.

SCADA/HMI Architecture: Design and optimize WinCC (TIA Portal) SCADA systems for real‑time monitoring, alarm management, historical data logging, and prompt data analysis reports through SCADA data logging.

Process Optimization: Implement and tune PID control loops for critical variables such as temperature, pressure, and motor speed (essential for rubber thread consistency).

Motion Control: Configure and troubleshoot various brands of drives to ensure precise tension control across the production line.

Industrial Networking: Manage and troubleshoot interface and communication between field devices and the control room.

Maintenance & Support: Lead the troubleshooting of complex automation failures to minimize production downtime and provide root‑cause analysis.

Documentation: Maintain up-to-date electrical schematics, software backups, and functional design specifications (FDS).

Requirements & Qualifications
Technical Skills

Software Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Siemens TIA Portal (Step 7 & WinCC). Experience with SCL (Structured Control Language) is highly preferred.

Hardware Expertise: Hands‑on experience with Siemens S7-1500/1200 PLCs and ET200SP distributed I/O modules.

Drive Systems: Strong knowledge of Siemens SINAMICS Startdrive for motor control.

Database Integration: Knowledge of linking SCADA systems to SQL databases for production reporting is a significant advantage.

Experience & Education
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or Automation.

Years of Experience

Minimum of 3–5 years in industrial automation, preferably within a continuous process manufacturing environment (e.g., rubber, textiles, or chemicals).

Industry Knowledge

Understanding of sensors, actuators, and pneumatic systems.

Soft Skills

Analytical mindset with a "safety-first" approach to programming.

Strong communication skills to collaborate with production and maintenance teams.

Ability to work independently and manage project timelines effectively.
