We are expanding our Kuala Lumpur Technology Center organization and looking for passionate individuals with a creative and innovative mind‑set to drive change in our business, and who enjoy working in dynamic, collaborative, and diverse global teams.

Currently, we have an opportunity for an experienced Safety Relief Engineer to join our Safety Relief department. The role is based in Menara ExxonMobil in Kuala Lumpur.

What you will do

If successful, you will be part of the Safety Relief department, ExxonMobil Pressure Relief and Flare Center of Excellence. You will contribute in protecting our coworkers, communities and environment by finding and mitigating overpressure risks in an open, innovative and collaborative environment with high quality, capital efficient safety relief review analyses.

We are looking for an experienced individual who will play a key role in the technical design decisions we take. Key deliverables include:

  • Conduct relief system analysis including safety relief reviews, flare studies, sustainment and change management activities that includes pressure safety valves (PSVs), pressure vacuum valves (PVVs) and blowdown system
  • Participates in global capital project development deliverables with regard to relief system design through various project stages
  • Oversee and validate the technical integrity of on‑site safety relief assessments.
  • Design effective and cost‑efficient mitigation strategies to enhance safety and manage risk associated with Safety Relief findings.
  • Collaborate closely with other disciplines, partners and contractors in pursuit of efforts on the projects and manufacturing sites/assets supported.
  • Identifies and develops opportunities to improve work processes, practices and tools.
About you

Skills and Qualifications

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering specialty and relevant industry experience
  • 5 years minimum experience in Process Design or Safety Relief
  • Knowledgeable/familiar with industrial codes / standards such as API 520, API 521, API 526, API 2000, ASME Sec 8
  • Experience in performing overpressure/flare analysis
  • Hands on experience with using Pro II, HYSYS or other process simulation tools
  • Be able to demonstrate the following:
