Job summary

A construction safety firm is seeking a qualified Safety Officer in Gelang Patah, Malaysia. Qualifications

Job description

Responsibilities

• Plan, assign and supervise safety matters and requirements for all work sites.
• Implement all policies, activities, procedures and instructions relevant to the quality system.
• Ensure all work sites and offices are safe and compliant with the OSHA Act 1994, CIDB requirements and company safety policies.
• Formulate, implement and maintain all health & safety policies, activities, procedures in the safety programs conforming to the requirement.
• Conduct health & safety related induction training programs to all employees as required.
• Ensure effective operation of safety management and compliance by all workers.
• Schedule, organize, conduct and supervise company’s Health & Safety committee and meetings.
• Conduct investigation into any accident or near miss occurrence at all sites and submit report to head office.
• Suggest corrective action and preventive methods or procedures to avoid reoccurrence of accidents at work site.
• Coordinate, monitor or conduct safety training on safety procedures at all work sites and promote awareness on safety.
• Advise management on any changes in Health & Safety legislation.
• Foster an understanding of injury prevention and damaged control.
• Keep up to date codes of practices and circulate any new Health & Safety literature or relevant information to all levels of employees.
• Prepare & submit documents including safe work method statement, height mitigation plan, logistic plan, risk assessment plan etc.

Qualifications

• Diploma / Degree in Environment and Occupational Health or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent, recognized by the department of Safety Health (DOSH) Malaysia.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the Construction industry, preferably in data center.
• Able to lead and manage the safety and health teams for multiple projects.
• Working knowledge of ISO standards and the preparation, implementation and maintenance of the quality management system is an added advantage.
• Good communication skills, strong personality and positive attitude.
