Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced Resident Engineer (RE) to be stationed full-time at our road project site in Murud Suang, Lawas. The successful candidate will lead all site-level engineering, supervision, and compliance activities to ensure the project is delivered according to design, specifications, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Provide full-time engineering supervision for the construction of rural roads, including earthworks, drainage, pavement, slope protection, retaining structures, and related works.

Review and verify contractor submissions, shop drawings, method statements, and work programs.

Conduct daily inspections to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to JKR Sarawak standards.

Monitor construction progress, identify discrepancies, and provide timely technical resolutions.

Coordinate closely with the Project Director, consultant team, contractor, and relevant authorities.

Prepare routine progress reports, NCRs, site memos, and documentation required for project governance.

Ensure strict compliance with environmental, safety, and health requirements at site.

Serve as the primary representative of the consultant on-site.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum 15 years experience in civil engineering with strong emphasis on road construction projects.

Proven track record in supervising rural road or highway projects.

Familiarity with JKR Sarawak Road Standards and relevant technical guidelines.

Strong leadership, communication, and decision‑making abilities.

Able to work independently in remote terrain‑based environments (Murud Suang posting).

Experience as RE / ARE / Senior Civil Engineer in past projects is highly preferred.
