Regional Telecommunication Transport Network Project Manager
The Sarawak Regional Telecommunication Transport Network Project Manager will lead the planning, deployment, and optimization of telecommunication transport networks (fiber optics, microwave, IP/MPLS, DWDM, etc.) across Sarawak. This role ensures timely delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance with technical and regulatory standards while coordinating with vendors, government bodies, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Execution
Lead end-to-end project management for telecom transport network rollouts, upgrades, and expansions in Sarawak.
Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
Ensure adherence to technical specifications (e.g., TM Forum, ITU‑T standards) and regulatory requirements (MCMC, Sarawak state guidelines).
- Network Deployment & Optimization
Oversee fiber optic cable laying, microwave link installations, and backbone network enhancements.
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams (RF, Transmission, IP Planning) for seamless implementation.
Drive testing, commissioning, and integration of transport network elements (SDH, OTN, IP/MPLS).
Liaise with government agencies (e.g., Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation), local authorities, and landowners for permits/rights‑of‑way.
Manage contracts with suppliers (e.g., tower companies, fiber providers) and ensure SLA compliance.
- Budget & Resource Control
Monitor project expenditures, ensuring cost‑effectiveness and ROI alignment.
Allocate resources (manpower, materials) and resolve bottlenecks (e.g., terrain challenges in rural Sarawak).
- Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.
Provide regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field. PMP/PRINCE2 certification is a plus.
- Experience: 5+ years in telecom transport network projects (fiber, microwave, IP networks), preferably in regional/remote deployments.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in DWDM, OTN, SDH, and familiarity with GIS tools (e.g., Google Earth, AutoCAD).
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, negotiation, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Language: English proficiency; Bahasa Malaysia or local Sarawak dialects are advantageous.
Working Conditions
- Frequent travel across Sarawak to project sites (urban/rural).
- May involve outdoor site inspections and irregular hours during critical phases.
Compensation
