A leading precision technology firm in Pahang, Malaysia, is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to enhance machining processes and support product introduction. Responsibilities include tooling design, CNC programming, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and possess 2-5 years of relevant CNC machining experience. Knowledge of CAD/CAM software and ISO standards is preferred.
Develop, evaluate, and improve CNC machining processes to enhance efficiency, precision, and consistency.
Analyze current machining methods and propose improvements to cycle time, tool life, and material utilization.
Work closely with production to implement new or modified processes and monitor performance results.
Tooling & Fixture Design
Design and test custom tools, jigs, and fixtures for new or complex machining requirements.
Select suitable cutting tools and parameters for new product trials or improvement projects.
Collaborate with tooling suppliers for testing new inserts or innovative tool solutions.
New Product Introduction (NPI)
Support NPI activities by developing machining strategies, CNC programs, and setup documents.
Participate in product prototyping, design validation, and machining trials to ensure manufacturability.
Collaborate with design and quality teams during product development and first-article inspection (FAI).
CNC Programming & Technical Support
Generate, modify, and optimize G-code/M-code programs for CNC Auto Lathe and Swiss-type CNC machines.
Support production team in troubleshooting machining-related issues and provide technical solutions.
Maintain a library of standard CNC programs and machining parameters for reference.
Explore and evaluate new machining technologies, materials, and methods that can be integrated into production.
Stay updated with industry trends in CNC automation, Industry 4.0, and digital manufacturing.
Recommend capital investments or upgrades to support continuous improvement.
Documentation & Compliance
Prepare technical reports, SOPs, work instructions, and test documentation for all development projects.
Ensure compliance with internal quality systems and ISO standards in R&D activities.
Maintain detailed records of experiments, trials, and results for future reference and audits.
Work with cross-functional teams including design, production, QA, and procurement for development initiatives.
Assist in managing R&D timelines, priorities, and deliverables.
Support internal training by sharing new process knowledge with engineering or production teams.
Other Duties
Perform other tasks assigned by management related to process development, quality improvement, or cost-saving initiatives.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
2–5 years of experience in CNC machining, R&D, or process development roles.
Strong understanding of CNC Auto Lathe operations; Swiss-type experience is an added advantage.
Skilled in CNC programming (G-code/M-code), process design, and CAD/CAM software.
Experience in tooling design, prototyping, or product development is a plus.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork abilities.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing, FMEA, and ISO standards preferred.
