Job summary

A leading construction and engineering group is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to lead cost control for a major construction project in Taiwan. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, 8-10 years of experience, and be bilingual in English and Mandarin. This role involves setting up cost control systems, managing contract negotiations, and ensuring accurate budgeting.

Job description
Overview

Our client is a leading construction and engineering group. They specialize in design, construction and project management of large-scale industrial facilities, commercial complexes, warehouses and infrastructure projects. They are now looking for a candidate to work in Taiwan to lead all cost control and quantity surveying for their major construction project.

Location

Taiwan, Taipei

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and implement the cost control system for large scale construction projects in Taiwan
  • Manage pre- and post-contract activities including feasibility studies, cost planning, tendering and contract negotiations
  • Prepare, analyze and negotiate main contract (in English) and subcontractor agreements (in Mandarin)
  • Conduct quantity take-off, costing and BOQ preparation for structural work
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement and project teams to ensure accurate budgeting and cost tracking
  • Manage variation orders (Vos), progress claims and final account settlements
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
  • Support project reporting to Taiwan management
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 8-10 years of QS experience
  • Strong background in cost estimation, tendering and cost administration for industrial, commercial or infrastructure projects
  • Bilingual proficiency in English & Mandarin (essential to deal with main and subcontractor)
  • Experience in setting up cost control systems for construction projects
  • Prior overseas or regional project exposure is an advantage
