Role Context
You will work closely with procurement, suppliers and the project management team. The Mechanical Engineering buyer has the ability to purchase goods, materials, and services to meet the company’s operational needs, considering price, quality and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with new/existing suppliers; review opportunities to achieve cost savings using negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
- Maintain good communication and relationships with suppliers in a professional and consistent manner
- Manage supplier relationships including quality and supply issues, improving supplier performance and building successful supply chain partnerships
- Coordinate with Production Team to finalize and confirm weekly production schedules based on customer requirements and available material stocks
- Liaise with suppliers and internal/external parties to ensure purchasing processes run smoothly on a timely basis
- Ensure compliance with company guidelines, purchasing policies, and procedures; maintain integrity and reliability
- Complete internal supplier approvals to ensure suppliers meet business standards with up-to-date certifications and records
- Take ownership of daily supplier-related activities
- Research new components and suppliers; identify and assess new supply options for current and upcoming requirements
- Collaborate with procurement for continuous improvement and business improvements
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and supplier options
- Provide cost analyses and review cost reduction opportunities
- Apply knowledge of purchasing within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrate initiative toward continuous improvement in the purchasing process
- Possess deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Excel; experience with purchasing software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including Bahasa & English)
- Ability to work independently with strong critical thinking and negotiation skills
- Relevant Diploma or Bachelor’s degrees, or certificates in Business, Supply Chain / Purchasing are useful
Other Roles and Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for providing on-site mechanical engineering services and technical support to on-site supervision staff; guide commissioning engineers to complete risk reviews, pre-start inspections and operating procedures for process safety equipment
- Job requirements: Work with operations and maintenance to update SOPs and participate in process safety risk assessments; generate work notifications and scopes for repair of process safety equipment; exercise professional judgement in resolving engineering issues; verify subcontractors’ claims and cost control; report defects and non-compliance; lead teams to achieve project outcomes; monitor projects on-site and provide professional recommendations
Qualification & Experience
- Degree in mechanical engineering with minimum 2+ years of engineering experience
- Experience or exposure to process safety and inspections/auditing
- Experience with tanks, pressure vessels and piping integrity inspections, assessment and repair
- Delivery of mechanical scope to program and budget specifications
Other Engineering Roles
- Project management administrator and project officer responsibilities described, including coordinating project phases and stakeholder communication

Key Skills
- Good communication in English; another language is a plus
- Excellent time management and organizational skills

- Relevant degree in Engineering or Business is useful
- 1+ year of project experience in engineering/construction
Storekeeper and Quality Roles
- Storekeeper responsibilities include stock management, record-keeping, inventory control, and preparation of material orders
- Knowledge of warehouse safety policies and maintaining a clean, organized store
- 3+ years experience as storekeeper or in material management; PC/MS Office proficiency
- Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to coordinate with other departments
- Knowledge of Supply Chain Management and commitment to improving store management systems
- Maintain accurate stock records
Drafting and Quality Inspection Roles
- Produce mechanical engineering drawings; AutoCAD experience preferred
- Ability to read shop drawings; ensure parts fit and meet specifications; inspect welds and coatings
- Experience in steel fabrication inspection and QA/QC collaboration
- Develop training programs and act as an on-field representative for quality issues
Qualifications (Quality/Inspection)
- 3–5 years in steel fabrication with inspection experience
- Strong ability to read shop drawings and understand quality/safety policies
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement
- Strong communication and attention to detail; able to work independently
