Job description

Ensure full understanding and compliance with SOI’s Quality Management System (QMS).

Oversee the implementation and maintenance of QMS processes in accordance with company policies, standards and external requirements.

Planning and Execution

Plan, organize and manage all QA/QC activities to meet quality objectives and standards set by Management, Licensors and Customers.

Develop strategies to uphold quality policies and ensure continuous improvement.

Non‑Conformance Management

Analyze all non‑conformances and initiate corrective actions.

Collaborate with Production team to prevent recurrence and ensure timely closure of Corrective Action Reports (CAR).

Document Control

Maintain proper control, documentation, and updates of QMS and Licensor‑related documents in compliance with relevant standards.

Audit and Compliance

Prepare for and attend internal and external audits related to quality and process standards, including API, ISO and proprietary thread standards.

Conduct audits on plant equipment, QC tools and external suppliers to ensure calibration schedules and quality expectations are met.

Contract and Customer Liaison

Coordinate with Contract Administrators and Job Coordinators on QA/QC inputs for tenders, job administration and documentation.

Act as the primary liaison with customers on all QA/QC matters.

Manage and guide subordinates with clear objectives and professional conduct.

Foster effective communication between team members, HR and senior management to promote teamwork and productivity.

Training and Development

Oversee QA/QC training programs and monitor their implementation and effectiveness.

Health, Safety & Environment

Ensure compliance with all HSE requirements and maintain good housekeeping standards at the workplace.

Additional Duties

Perform any other tasks assigned by the Chief Operating Officer and Plant Management & Operations team to achieve quality compliance.

Special Appointments

• Licensee Quality Representative (LQR): Represent SOI for all licensed connections and ensure compliance with licensor requirements.
• Quality Management Representative (QMR): Ensure QMS conforms to applicable specifications; establish, implement and maintain QMS processes; report on QMS performance and improvement needs to Company Management; initiate actions to address non‑conformities; promote customer requirement awareness throughout the organization; liaise with external parties on QMS‑related matters.

Established in 1985, Sobena Offshore Inc Sdn Bhd (“SOI”) is a Petronas licensed SP1‑Pipe Threading contractor & one of the pioneers of OCTG end‑finishing services company in Malaysia. SOI has two production plants at Kemaman Supply Base and Asian Supply Base, each equipped with over twenty units of CNC lathe machines and other facilities to provide services ranging from material inspection and connection machining for OCTG and drill pipes, to material treatment, manufacturing of couplings and accessories, and buck‑off and make‑up of pipes for customers within and outside Malaysia.
